The past few months have been packed with competitions, traveling, training and taking an economics course online. Here are some of the highlights from my season so far…
Thanks to my competitive standings I qualified for my 2nd World Cup in Slopestyle and my first World Cup Big Air! It was a great experience to represent the NWT and Canada on the world stage. I had some awesome training runs and despite falling in my competitions, I came away with more experience under my belt and a whole lot of motivation.
After that my next big competition was that Snow Crown Canadian Freestyle Championships. At that contest I was riding well and placed in the top 10 in Qualifications, allowing me to compete in the Semi Finals. In the semis I put down a safety run but came up one spot short of making the finals. Tough go.
Last weekend I competed in the Showcase Showdown – the longest running freestyle competition in Canada. I had a great day. I learned 3 new tricks during the competition. I landed my first run and qualified for finals. After falling in my first 2 finals runs the pressure was on for my last run. I put it down my best run of the day and ended in 6th place! Check out the full story and video on my blog.
The next thing on my agenda is the National Slopestyle Team Jump Camp at Mount Washington this week. I’ve been invite to take part in this camp where they’re custom building a jump with an airbag landing next to the same jump with a snow landing. I’m really excited to push my limits during the camp and learn some new tricks!
